Good morning. What time is it? This ain't thirty. It's not that early, but, you know, we, a little bit of later household, but Yeah. It's everything's good over here. It's a little gloomy. We have, like, our our summer gloom here in San Francisco. So I'm missing the sun. So Cynthia says, Chinchin, and also Michelle Erlon says, child. Michelle Michelle. We know, Michelle. And Katina Capelina. So listen, tell us what you've been up to in terms of Italian wine podcast. Do would you like to shoot tell us like some of the guests you've had You know, I know you started with Angela McCray. Yep. Definitely. Yeah. So I took over from Steve in March, like Stevy said. So it's been a few months now. It feels like it's been years, but it's That that's what happens. Right? Yes. Exactly. And really what I did with the the podcast, I mean, Steve was giving so much good market insight and technical information. So I'm trying to maintain that, but also bring in some more communication and your speakers. The format with Master Class US wide market is we'll start with three key learning objectives. I stole that from you, Stevie, and how you structure your seminars. I love it. I love it. I love it. I love the copy cats because it means it works. Yeah. And then we end up a little mini quiz. The three key takeaways just really hammering home. What the key topics are. So rather than a biographical episode, I'm really trying to get the guests to talk about a specific topic. So for example, we have a podcast coming out in a couple weeks about, you know, how to work an international a trade show. So we talked specifically even about what luggage to pack and how to, you know, avoid jet lag and and those types of things. With that, Joe Lang, he's an export director for Link twins, a winery here in California. Yeah. We had Angela McCrayon as our first guest. She talked about the need to reach more diverse audiences in the US market as a demographic exchange and ways in which Italian wineries can reach new audiences. We had Karen McNeil. I mean, that was That's kind of that's kind of a big deal. Right? Yeah. The wine bible lady? Author of the wine bible. She just released the third edition pretty recently. I mean, she spoke about growing up, you know, as a wine writer in New York and in the eighties. She's in a tasting group where she wasn't allowed to talk with five other men. Wow. Yeah. I know. So it's pretty pretty incredible that, you know, that that interview. Let me let me remind you some of your other since you're not a morning person. So then after Angela McCray, you had Germaine Stone, We love Germaine. The he's also doing a lot of new things. Right? He's going to drop something new. I I heard from I spoke to your dad last night. Yeah. He's helping a series of tastemade in Constellation. So it'll be a food and wine travel show. So he's gonna be an It'll be in New York, Detroit, San Francisco, Savannah, and they'll have episodes in each city. So that should be coming out in August on But is that is that going to be with wine as well? Do you know? Yeah. Yeah. He'll be using he's partnered with Constellation Brand, so on Constellations wines will be, you know, featuring. Tell Angela Slade. Listen, and then you had, of course, Peter Young, one of our favorites. I think he's one of the smartest dude right now in the wine industry. He's amazing. We talked about luxury wine marketing. We talked about the trends of luxury Italian wine as well. So, you know, he he's great. He brought in a lot of business insights and stats on what's selling and and what's trending. Then we had Shelley Lindgren, She's the owner of a sixteen, with couple restaurants here in San Francisco that really champions Southern Italian wine. They've been around for decades. They're really, like, institutions here. So she talked about the Italian wine market in San Francisco. He's also releasing a book, a new book on Italy this summer. So that was great. We also had Josh Wanda. He's with Forest Brand. It's a recruiting company. So he talked about the new generation of wine sales people How do you get them engaged? How do you reach them? How do you Yeah. He actually was also did an interview with Steve Ray. It's actually one of our most popular shows. So he's very charismatic. And everything he says is so, you know, so compelling. So great to have him back. And then you had Cynthia Laura. Cynthia, yep. She's with Jay Laura, multi generational family winery, based in Paso. So I had her talk about communicating family ownership. She's the head of communications and marketing and everything at JLore. So how do you communicate multi generational values since that's, you know, for so many Italian, why are you so many family owned wineries. So I thought she brought some interesting, you know, insights around how her family business is organized and run. Then you had Matthew Tanner. Is that how you pronounce it? Yeah. He's the new wine columnist for men's journal, which is a popular vocation in the US. He's a former Sommelier from Los Angeles. So he spoke about engaging the next generation of Sommeliers. How do you get them? What are they looking for? He spoke a lot about, you know, the need to introduce more Soteric, smaller producers, the interest there, but also that there is still a whole contingent that's interested in the classics. So he spoke a little bit about what Psalms are interested in these days. We've had Michelle says he's watching. He can chime in then, you know, but I know we talked about other things too, but Gary Fish. Gary Fish. She has the owner of Gary's White and Marketplace. He owns three retail stores in New Jersey, and then one in Napa. So he talked about what's selling in Italian wine in his stores, Cesare Martinez, his his Italian wine buyer. Yeah. We all know Cesare. Yeah. Mr. Martini. So they've expanded, you know, their Italian been in Italy, and I know they're just we're spending some time visiting some producers there. So he talked about that. We had Dan Peltrowski. He is the winemaker at Massacre Lines, which is a wine label here in California, but he focuses on making a lot of Italian white varietals, you may. I I hope you can bring him to wine to wine. I think he's a terribly interesting person and entrepreneur, super smart, but also, like, super, like, he exudes, like, you know, affability, you know, like, I really want to, like, hang out with him kind of thing. So You you two might be a little dangerous together. He's a New Yorker. You know that. Right? Yeah. Yeah. New Yorker. So So I hope you can bring him over to wine to wine. Meeting winemakers, eating local foods, and taking in the scenery. Now, back to the show. You've had so many, like, great because I love your episodes. I really, really love them. Steve. And you know, like, I don't give out free compliments. Right? So you know that. I was wondering for months. I was like, is it is it going okay? I don't know. Finally, I think, you know, it was, like, got a WhatsApp from you. I was like, okay. It's okay. No. But, I mean, it is really like a gem. Right? And I feel like any producer, but anybody in the wine industry you know, there is an exact takeaway. And it's such a great tool for anyone who's interested in the US market. It's short. Yeah. Right? And it's succinct and to the point and some real great takeaway. So I highly recommend everyone to join whenever they can, and that's on every every Monday at El Paso five Italian time. That's the time right now. For California. Yep. Which is? Eight thirty. Eight Yeah. Eight forty three. Yeah. But obviously, they can, you know, they can listen anytime they want. And then after Dan and Karen, we you had Ali Wolanski. Yep. Ali's a writer. She spoke about sub stack. So yet another platform out there that writers are using. So what is it? You know, do you as a marketer need to be using it? I think the key takeaway from Ally was it's a great way to connect with writers because you can follow them and Yeah. That's a lot of time, but they're up to, which so, yeah, I think it was a good one. Are you using Substock? Are you doing it? A little bit. Yeah. To be honest, it's not, like, part of my daily repertoire. I need to be I need to be using it more. Yeah. Ali seemed to be very dedicated. Right? I listened to that episode. She is. Yeah. I subscribed to her sub stack newsletter, so I get her newsletter, you know, every day. And she'll say, like, I'm looking for I'm writing a story about barbecue wines. Right. Right. And then, you know, I send that to the team. Like, a lot of a bunch of our team gets it. So then we put together, ideas for her, for wines, and she writes for Forbes and USA Today, another great publication. So it's a really good way to get your, wines into her. Her coverage. And then we had four more guests on your list. Jewel's herd. Yeah. I actually was a random, meaning I didn't know her before. Oh, wow. How did that happen? She put a story out on Forbes about AI and how it's gonna impact communications agency. So, of course, I read that article because we're a communications agency, of course. And I reached out blindly just from her website because I thought that that would be an important topic. So we spoke about AI and generative AI and what is it? What can it do? And how can it help you? And I think key takeaways from her episode were really that it's a tool. It's not gonna replace us entirely, but it is going to help increase the productivity of our jobs and our roles. And something that we all need to be using and start using. So I thought that was a good one as well, really tactical too in terms of her advice. They're they were all tactical. All of your episodes are very very functional in terms of understanding the US market trends. I love it. And then you had Filana Bovier. Yep. So Anna is the president at domain estates. There are relatively new importer in the US market. Under the arm of Galen Lawrence and Carlton McCoy who own wineries like Heights and Stony Hill and Napa, but they're the import company of that business. So they've recently started importing a must say from Tuscany, and they have a couple producers and champagne and and Roan and Bordeaux, and they are, you know, expanding their Italian portfolio. So she spoke about what is an importer looking for right now in the US market from Italy, but also she spoke a lot about what makes a successful supplier distributor relationship. She worked in the distribution side for over two decades. So I thought that part of her conversation was was really insightful because she has so much experience there. So that was distribution tactics And then you had Lara Burgess? Yep. Laura Burgess, she spoke about copywriting. She's a writer. So she spoke about the power of words and making language more clear and succinct and direct in order to reach your target audience. So Yeah. I feel like every every wine professional should listen to this including myself. Yeah. That's really helpful. I think for both the producer size, supplier side, but also from the communicating side. And then, lastly, Amelia Aiello. Yes. Amelia is a Italian wine ambassador. Yes. She is. She did she did our addition way, way back in New York edition. Yeah. In New York. And she was working for the post office at the time, I think. Oh, the post office. Yeah. Yeah. She's been with the she was with the Bastiamich group wet at Italy. That's where I met her actually working at Monzo. Over ten years ago in New York. And then she was at Lufa. Yeah. So and she's from the area. So she's moved back here a couple years ago. And so we've reconnected and been hanging out out here, so it was really fun to have her on. She started a e commerce business called Chita Vino. She focuses on it. Oh, okay. Excellent. I haven't listened to Emea's episode yet. Yeah. She's very clashing in. She speaks Italian. She's her family's Italian American. Like mine, but actually a mix of the north and the south is where her family's from. So she talks about why, you know, why she started Chitavino, what she's doing, but also the opportunities to introduce smaller producers and southern wines to US consumers. So Alright. Really good too. And then, yeah, that's that's everyone. Yeah. That's everyone. So there's where you've done already fifteen episodes that that's every Monday. It's hard to believe. I know. You get to work every every week. Because we put out every waking. No holidays. So just so that we align our expectations, we work like dogs. You know? But listen, I just wanted to, you know, go over all of your guests. I think because every single one of them were absolutely wonderful, and you're doing such a great job. So I wanted to give you a little bit of love. Are you feeling the love? Thanks, Katie. Yeah. A lot of love on this Wednesday morning. Yeah. So much. Okay. And This is an opportunity. And continue to the great job. And hopefully, you can bring some of your guests to wine to wine, and maybe you can do a little bit of a deep dive and share with, of course, all of the other participants. Yeah. That would be amazing to have some of their live. And Yeah. Some people that we have coming up, we have Tonia Pitts. I just prefer Oh, yeah, Tanya. I've never met her in person, but I would I, you know, I think she came actually to Viniceli, and I missed her or something. Yes. I think she's been before. Yeah. But It's been in the industry for decades. So over a year. No. No. Just last one. I think yeah. I invited her to upper wide, but her flight was late or whatever. So we never We never got a, Angela Slates as congrats. Great initiatives. Yeah. And so, yeah. So I would love to, meet her, Tonya Peds. Who else? Who else do you have lined up? We have Lauda Diaz Munas Munas. She's a a GM and winemaker and studying to be an NW all three. Mhmm. Small winery smaller winery in in Napa. So she's gonna talk about How do you run a national brand with a small team? Cause she's running, a nationally distributed brand with a a rather lean team. And then we also have Ernie Luzant is gonna be coming on as well. He's a white knicker from Germany, but he also makes wine in Oregon. So he'll talk about kind of making wine overseas, you know, in his home his home country. So those are and then I need I need some more guests. I'm gonna have a few other names.
