It is the fortieth anniversary of this premium, and we're here with Mr. Sandra Boscaini, who is the vice president of the foundation, and he'll explain a bit about that. But also of course, the lead, and the president of the famous Mazi winery. So, Ciao, Ciao, Ciao, Ciao, Ciao, Ciao, Ciao, Ciao, Ciao. Ciao. Ciao, Ciao. Ciao, Ciao, Ciao, Ciao. How are you? Fine. Fine. Fine. In a in a beautiful day. Great. Sandro, can you please tell us exactly what Premier Masi is to our audience? It's a sort of celebration that we start in nineteen eighty one. So forty years ago, exactly forty years ago in a in a very difficult moment for our bit culture and, you know, in a logical situation, in Italy and in particular here in Venice. In fact, in that time, it was the the the right moment to start the new renaissance of the Italian mind in one side, but also some of the previous, players are still alive. They try to, to work in a way that the new rule of the the new law of of the the the population should be intent, like, a way to of marketing rather than a true, law to change the life of Italian wines. So when did when did it all stop? The foundation, the Premier Mazzi. The foundation, the the Premier Mazzi started in nineteen eighty one. And who came up with the idea? Like, how how did it become? In in this situation of difficulty of our Italian and, in a vanishing Pity culture. I expressed my concern to a few people in the culture, a journalist, a well known writer, and, novelists, and other people. And, they came to me with a a very simple idea. They said, well, you should be, very proud of what you are doing, what your father did, what your grandfather did, making true wines serious wines from the British region. What the best is to put in, your product at the level of the production of artist scientist, the intern entrepreneur that really make a famous himself and the definition error in in general. And so they came. You you have one of this example of a great product. That's a moroni. Why you don't give a surprise a moroni? And so we started with the and the the barrel of a moroni is the symbol of the premium and is the reward that we give to the the price people. So from that time, forty year came, twenty years in the last millennium and twentieth in the new millennium. And that this year, we are here to pay attribution to the history that, came to us, a recognition of the history to the the prized people. As well to the innovation and the vision of the future that came through in particular to the last twenty years, where, when the important person in Italians or even, from foreign country that came here, tribute to the the the prize and to the Masi name and to the Amaroni, the position that Amaroni have, And at the same time, giving some vision for the new life in particular now after the the the the this, problematic time of a pandemic. So can you tell us, for example, who were the some of the past winners, awardees of premiumazi? Yes. I I have to start to explain that the premiumazi is given to the three different category. Okay. What are the three different categories. Yeah. The first category is the people that, come from here, from this region, venetian, region, or that, that, became, to be considered, like, like, a part of this culture, and we prize the culture, the innovation, the ideas, the vision of these people that became famous all over the world, and we have people this year. We prize roberto Batiston, which is a a scientist. Mhmm. And in particular, very active now, it was the president of the institution, Italian institution for space. But, today is also, make the mathematic system to analyze the evolution of the pandemic for example. Oh, really. Yes. I see three names today, right? Exactly. Is Jane Domosto who is, is not an Italian. She she, she married, mister Demosto, count the most from Venice, but she's from, South Africa. And, she's a scientist also, but there's also a very dynamic person who's saving Venice. So, and, more in general, to save the planet against the situation that is created today of a pollution, and the power of is a a musician. And, in the same time, is a a very important producer, the the first, and the only one, very important producing of a, of a piano, forty in Italy. No. So so is it it's unusual that you have three awardees for the same category. Is that correct? Yes. No. Every year Oh, every year. Every year we do, and we we change it. This year is is more or less all in line, but in general, is one entrepreneur, one artist, and one saint is. Okay. So three personalities for the civilta de Verde. Then we have a grocery store ofeneziano, which is, the the one of the the our prize, but is entitled to the people internationally that, give a lot to recognize in each culture, something that, put together the person in order to to recognize that the culture is a great liaison to have to avoid the conflict. Joshua is a a a coin that go back to the, fourteenth century in Venice in a gold and in, in silver, that was a well known in the Mediterranean area as well in the asiatic area, in India, in asiatic area. And so to give the impression that as the the the coin that go around the world, making friendly everybody when you can exchange it, the freedom to exchange to know people and so. And so is, this is the the symbolic, symbolic product of, the pace and the, friendship around the world. So we prize person every year that did something in this, area, Italian or not Italian, maybe not Italian, but people that really But it can be, and already can also be Italian. Absolutely. Okay. In in this case, for example, Anna Elena Catano is a a scientist but is also, in a sen senator of Italian Republic, but more than that, she is very strong supporter of the the value of the scientific approach to the wellness and to the the the the the good life of the people all over the world. Okay. We cannot go back to the middle age. We we have to pro to proceed and to be open to, receive the input and help that come from the scientific approach. And then Lastly. Lastly, like, the national wine culture. That this year, we give to the, my friend, and your friend, Tilyoshinsa, one of the top person or probably the person today in the Viticulture and the and the wine sector, professor of university, very deep in the culture of wine, the roots of the the wine, the history of the vine, and so and so. And the person that did a lot to also to spread the message of the importance of the grapes, importance to the wine, and the the culture of the wine that is, a great culture in, in Italy, and not only in Europe, and now all over the world. Yes. I were so, so excited about this award. To, professor Atilio Shenza. Just one one last thing. How do you decide who the awardee is? Is there a is there a committee who decides this? Exactly. Yeah. There is masi Foundation of the own, organic group of, of conseil. The board of the the, and the board, decide three different the different, committee jury. Mhmm. One for the, venetian civilization, one for the wine, and then the grocery store ofeneziano is mainly taking care is the the board of the but with the suggestion of other experts. And so every year, we do a careful selection after that we gave the specific topic. And what is the theme of this year? Of this year is vision and and the courage. A courage. Yes. A vision and courage because I think it's a it's a perfect team for this situation, post pandemic, or that is approaching to the post pandemic. And do we need to have a vision? Because the word will be changed in some way. And I saw courage to to go in a new in a new way, to prevent a new way, a new way, knowing that some of the past must be really, destroyed or in any case, we cannot go with the same system. Okay. So I actually wanna just go back for the question that I had said before. Who were the some of the previous or initial when you started this? Who were some of the orities that we should know? Oh, well, for example, we can start with the wine the wine. We have the I'm wine centric. So as you know, I'm very interested in the wine. I mean, the wine, I don't know, produce, great producers like a Filipino, for example, like krug, the family krug, like Sandemann, but also people in the wine culture like like professor Peno. Oh, m e Peno. Oh my goodness. Yes. I think it it was the first. Oh, m e Peno. Actually, the first, it was the inventor of Vin Italy, Betsy Oh. Second, the tours, you know. Oh, my goodness. So you are a Tom. Yes. Absolutely. Yeah. And the and then, other other other very important people, mainly foreign people, but also Italian people. For example, in Chiza Deleroqueta, the Sashi Kaya owner, and the and the other on the on the group of the the the that make the selection, there is the friend of mine like Pierre Antonio, Angelo Gaya, some journalists, Italian, German, and American journalist. And, it's it's it's a fun and it's very important, for us. And I think, for for the culture of the wine in this case. Well, that sounds fantastic. So Professor Artilio Shenza is in very, very good company indeed. And thank you so much for doing this. I I know you're very busy today, so I'll let you go. But I think I do believe you know, the way you are in being inclusive both of culture and wine together and perhaps, you know, we can go a little bit forward in these difficult times. Thank you. And that's it. That's a wrap from the Mazi winery with Sandro Boscaini. Listen to the Italian wine podcast wherever you get your podcasts. We're on Sun Cloud.
