Native Grape Odyssey is an educational project financed by the European Union to promote European wine in Canada, Japan, and Russia. And joy. It's from Europe. Hello. This is the Italian wine forecast of me, Montewood. My guest today is Rosa Moio Rosa's family winery is called Quinto Deschimo, which is in the Campania region of n Italy. Which region are you in exactly you in Tarazi or Fianna de Avelin or Gumeja? Where are you? Yes. We are in Mira Belllelano. It's a little villa, the near to Avelino. Yes. So it's the region area of Taraz and we work on this, indigenous, Octonos grape of the territory. Right. Let's start with the two white wines first. Mhmm. Let's start with the Afaolino. What is, Fiano? Fiano is a very typical original grape from Eerpina. We So hang on. Just what is Eerpina? Why is it? Why does that why is it? Eerpina's a little is just the name of the grape, and the Pena is a little area. It's the name of the area of the province, the lino province. So it's the local word for the Avilino province. Mhmm. Yeah. It's a little area in Campania. And it's comes from It's a bear, I think. Isn't it? Yeah. My brother-in-law is from, you know, he's got a big tattoo. He's a police. He's got a big tattoo. He had puss on it anyway. Well, yeah. Yeah. I'll get him on the podcast sometime. He's a policeman, by the way. Okay. So fiano is the grape. Avelino is the town. So fiano di avelino is a white wine from around avelino. What does it taste like fiano di avelino? Is it dry white wine or It's nice. It's a dry the grape is very sweet. We make a dry wine with this kind of grip. It's particular because it's it's an elegant and complex wine, very rich in spicy and dark notes, very elegant. So it's a articular, aromatic bouquet. So what smells do we find? What aromas do we find with the fiano? Oh, what's the bearings? Or No flavors. Lemon. Saffron. Yeah. Okay. And what drink it. If we open a bottle of, fiano Divalino white wine, it's a dry white wine. What will we drink that with? What does a local dish from, Avelino or Campana that we would drink it with? In my personal opinion, the raw fish. Raw fish. Yeah. Prepared with what, with a bit of olive or with a vinegar? Or Yeah. It'd be some some spicy. No. No. Some herbs, lime. Yes. But the roof is just the perfect pairing with the fernanda willino. Now, we're gonna talk about the equity too. What is, Reco. Greco is another local grape, white grape from Tufo. In fact, the name of the denomination is Greco Dufo, and the Tufo is another little villa in Elpina. Greco is, a niche and grip, from the manja Greza. And, it's a very sweet, very intense, indeed. The aroma flavors. Like like what of flavors aromas. Hani. Mhmm. But it is a dry wine though, though, isn't it? It's a dry wine. Yeah. It's very rich in, dry fruit, north, honey, baniya, north, in, the k of my Gracolito for the vanier note is given by the baric. So the permanent's in the bars, and it's a very wine with a very intense structure. So it's quite a full did white wine? So what do you eat with it? Yeah. I mean, it depends because, this wine, you can pair with some season and cheese or, white meat, like chicken, rabbit or some pasta, pretty big, bigger pasta with cheeses. Yeah. It's better with this kind of fruit than than with the fish. Are you a good cook? You like about cooking? Yeah. I love cooking. Right. What's your favorite dish when you cook? If I come to if I if I come and visit your region, would it and and I was hungry, what would you what would you cook? Pasta, pasta, meat more than fish. I'm not, not able to cook fish because it's difficult, but meat and pasta and also cakes. Yeah. Cakes. Yeah. Cakes. Yeah. Really? Yeah. I love it. Alright. Is it perfect? Okay. Alright. So and you're so we did the fionna de Avarina, the Crrecadito four, which is the two white wines. Taurasi. What is Taurasi? Taurasi is, another typical, the the nominees from Mirpina, is ayanico grape. So the Taurasi is the name of the denomination because there's a deal that's called Taurasi as Graculito Fu is from Tufo. And the grape of Taurasi is Ayanico. Ayanico It's a very typical organic with a red grape, and it's a very strong grape rich in tannins. So it's a very strong red wine. So if I come and visit and open or you open a bottle of Razi for me, which is a red allianic or best wine. What is the perfect dish for that in your view? I think, of course, red meats and in particular lamb. Lam. So do you prefer, young lamb, like, when it's just very kind of soft and milky, or you, an animal that's a little bit older? No. No. No. To really, really soft and Really soft. Yeah. And while coke coke the weed, some herbs back there. Yeah. And where what are your biggest markets? I mean, you got you got your nearest big city as Naples, Napoli. Do you sell most of your wine in Napoli, or do you export your wines as well? We we export, and we we sell in all Italy with a unique distributor. So we have many agents, in all the regions of Italy and, in Campania above all, of course, and, we export in the US say in UK, German, Germany, Switzerland. Yeah. We have a lot of, countries where we export our wine. So the name of the wine is Quinto Deschimo. What does Quinto Deschimo mean? Quintodetimo means, fifteen because, the village where the winery is located today is Mirabella Eclano, and it was a village founded by the longer parts population. So I'm I'm talking about the ancient population of the before middle aid. They founded these villages, and they gave to the villages numeric names because the numeric name indicated that the distance from the beloved and the main city of the area that's at that time was Benamento. Benamento. Yeah. So Quinto decimal is fifteen. Right. So, Quinto is five and dash mode is ten. Yeah. In in Latin was Quintum Desi moma. So it's the ancient name of the village. Were you good in school? Yeah. Of course. But you enjoyed school. Yeah. Yeah. What was your favorite subject history? History and literature of the humanists. Yeah. Humanity subjects are. Yeah. More than the scientific. Okay. So I'd say thanks to my guest today, Rosa Mojo, who studied humanities, but has ended up working for a winery that's a mathematical number, which Quinto Deschimo. Fifteen. We got a famous chef in the UK called Jamie Olovey. He's got a I think I think his, range of restaurants are called fifteen, but you got that first. You're not got that fifteen hundred years before him. Don't worry about that. You don't have to worry about that. Stage, I'll get told off because I'll have to redo all this when you go away. It's called the outdrive, the end bit of the podcast. What? Well, you have the beginning of the podcast, like Benvenuto, blah blah blah, you say. And then, to the beginning of the podcast, where who are you, what's your name? Where are you for It's like a blind date. Come with you, Cammy. What are you doing? Like, Angie. Angie? No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. Or Jafranco. And that's it. And I was trying to make a joke, but it didn't really work, unfortunately. You know when you talk about the, the Longo Barza. Mhmm. Do you know why they're called Longo Bards? You want make another No. It's not a joke. No. This is No. I don't know. So they would their name longer bar means long bed. Ah, long bed. Badba longer. Oh, yeah. You're right. K. Anyway. Well, that's we can we can do a history podcast next time about the long periods. They came from the north of Italy. So I just learned the two things, the etymology of Eherpina and the name of a longer bird. Okay. Went to this year. Anyway, I'd like to say thanks to my yesterday, Rosa Muoyo from La Quinto Deschimo winery in the province of Avilino, in the Campania region of Italy, for giving us a little insight into Fiano de Avilino, Carrecuri Tufo, and Taurasi, which are the three main wines of that area.
