Welcome to the next generation. I'm Victoria Chacha, join me as we chat with young Italian wine people shaking up the wine scene. We're going to geek out on a grape or grape fam and then hear about all the wild wine things are guests have been up to. From vineyard experiments to their favorite wine bars. Hello. Hello. Hello. Welcome to another episode of the next generation podcast. It is broken hearted edition. Just kidding. But it is the San Balandino. Valentine's Day edition. Such a special episode we have for you today. We have a few. A few. We have two. Lovely guests hopping on shortly. Most famous for their bottled bellini, and we all know that there's a bunch of brunch babes out there that love themselves a bellini. And if you are a brunch babe, I'm not a brunch babe. Actually, I like brunch food, but, you know, living in New York. Those brunch lines. I hate queuing. I hate waiting in line. So me and brunch never really got along. But a nice brunch at home, homemade bellini or a bellini from Canela. Sure. Getting back to the bellini. Today, we're gonna do our little grape lowdown with something key to a bellini. So I'm sure you know what's in a bellini. At least I hope you do. And the great behind prosecco is Clara. So I'm gonna give you a few fun facts about Clara. I'm gonna dive into this lovely interview. So, where does Clara grow in the veneto? Of course, prosecco coming from the veneto. And then also has plantings in Fruvie, Venezia Julia, which is just north east of the veneto. The prosecco actually has two main biotypes. So you have prosecco dondo and prosecco dungo. And staying in the vineyard, prosecco produces vigorous and productive, bunches, big bunches, and it's a productive variety. And so you'll notice that if you find yourself drunk off of a bottle of prossecco in vineyards in the vanatore from the Venezia Julia, which sounds very romantic. Moving on, so getting into more about prossecco, the best slopes for Glera are usually found in Kroseco's most highly regarded area. So we're talking about, which is a DOCG, and I wanna see if you can say that three times because it's a hard one to say. And you can find higher elevations there with bigger diurnal ranges just producing really lovely acidity in the grapes. On that note, Gleta is a highly refreshing variety because of its acidity, and that's why makes a lovely lovely sparkling wine because we need acidity to make good sparkling wines. Any questions folks? You could drop it in the Italian wine podcast DMs. Give us a shout. Also give us a rating if you like. I'm doing a lot of talking here and I need to feel some love or if you have other thoughts. Love to hear him too. On that note, it's time to have our guests coming in there in the studio today, which is lovely. Welcome are to guest Tomazo and Alviso. Hey, guys. What's going on? Hi, Tomaza. And I'm Alviso. And everything is good. So far so good. Bonsan Valentino. Oh, thank you so much. I don't have any roses for you. Got a couple of bottles, by the way. Okay. But if you It's okay. No. That's fine. You prefer bottles. No. I actually told my friend last night, is that if any man knows me, he knows not to bring me flowers, it's I want food and wine. That that that's what we have done. So are you breaking hearts this year? Are you heartbroken? Next question for me. I don't know about you. I'm starting something now, but That's not my step. Oh, god. I I dress like Cuban, and I really shout that I'm moving here. I was expecting something like that. I don't know. It's a let's say it's a send validating transmitter. It's okay. You could throw terrible questions like that at me at any time. Alright. So you guys just traveled here from Venice. Right? Yeah. So were you born raised in Venice? Actually, no. Make those two. Very close to, like, thirty minutes. Yeah. We are, like, in a small city. It's called Sanonadeep Gavin. We still have, streets, cars, and, the normal things you will see in a city. We are not still stuck in the middle Benny's. But, of course, we, especially when we are outside from our home, we always say we are from Benny's, of course. No. I understand that because being from this small little town just outside of New York, sometimes when you're, like, out, you know, not with people from where you're from, but you'll speak on from New York, New York area. Yeah. So, because then you have to explain it that it's just it's like, it still matters. It's still popular. Don't discount. I I frankly know that. I know. And, I don't wanna you know, stay in the other side of the world and say I'm from San Donity Gavin province. Nobody will, you know, know, and, Venice is always good. It's better marketing. Yeah. Absolutely. Absolutely. But seeking a witch, so you guys are part of the Grander Balini Canala Empire of sorts. I mean, we all know what's I mean, we have to say that because it's a bellini, like any person, not any what most people in the world know what a bellini is? You know, I know my kind does. Yeah. That's, you know, that's very controversial because, Belini is, a cocktail. It's the cocktail of Venice. Definitely. So, again, coming back to the other questions, we always say from Venice because, of course, we are the the Belini guys. So we have to come from Venice. The thing is that actually Belini's a cocktail. Mhmm. So, you know, sometimes I got friends. They are like, you know, making brunch anywhere, and they are sending me, like, the photo on the manual. Believe. Like, okay. Cool. I mean, some people think that all the belief in the world is made by us, and, of course, it's not true, but some people still, think about it. Yeah. So do you guys actually drink Belini? Yeah. I mean, even if we we don't want it to drink it, we have to drink it. Absolutely. We have it everywhere. You know, you know, where showers? No. I've never shot you showered with me. Yeah. Exactly. I feel like they've seen a photo like that on your Instagrams. Oh, boy. Probably. Somewhere. So, I Honestly, I mean, I brought you guys on for many different reasons. One being you do all you do have very impressive social media presence. I mean, as another social media person, it's like, because of life or at least it seems. You got got a good aesthetic. Thank you. Do you have as much fun as it seems? Yeah. Yeah. Yes. Definitely. I think we are more Princeton brothers. Yeah. Definitely. So, basically, that was probably thanks to the pandemic. Yeah. No. So while the COVID situation, we were stuck in our home. And, you know, we are I'm twenty eight, and he's twenty two, and I started early. So around the eighteen, nineteen, and, you know, he was twelve. So I started to focus, on the export markets. So I was traveling a lot, and it was growing, but, actually, we didn't have the time to catch each other. You know. So when we were forced to stay in the same house, I'd say to myself, oh, I get, like, a grown man here, and I like him. So since that moment, I think we are, like, you know, living together. Actually, we moved it together. Oh, that's so good. Yeah. Yeah. Because I always I mean, how many brothers are there? Oh, just the two of us. Just the two. Then we add up couple of cousins. So okay. So oh, okay. That makes more sense. Cause I saw, like, obviously, I'm obviously stalked you guys before this. So that's obvious. Because I saw other, like, canela or whatever. And I was like, are there brothers? What's the story? Because it's like YouTube upfront. I'm like, are they kicking everyone else out? And they were like, we're doing this guys. So that makes a lot more sense. I mean, that's great. So you have two brothers. So what was it like, you know, growing up in this July? What what kind of world? I can't, should I say Belini Brothers? Like, what's what's the Belini Brother World You wanna talk about our our early stages. Your life. You you don't have to go too deep. We can talk about your first break up. So, oh my gosh, we should do that. Oh, because it's fine. It's Valentine's Day. Come on, I know. Why are we? Why are we? Maybe not. Maybe not. Maybe not. I mean, I'll let you take the floor of whatever you wanna do. We are a family of four people. There's the two of us and we're dad. And our mom. The company is actually talking about love. This is fun. We just have one rule in our company, and it's, never, ever, ever bring anybody that is not from the family. So no fiance, no husband, no wife, no lovers, no, like, mistresses. You know, erotic situation office. It's just, you know, straight job people. And I think it's very nice. So this is just the the the the the simple rule that we have in our And, at the moment, by the way, companies managed by my father, our father, and our three ounce. So we are like the next generation. It seems. I I would I would assume you're on the next generation podcast, by the way. That's just one one. But that's actually a really smart rule. The whole not having, like, these what did you say? Like, people that are in part of, like, they're part of the family, but not part like, they not I hate to bring up the blood term, but, like, You know, like, not born into the family. Yeah. Let's say in a polite way. It's already a mess when you're a robot breaking apple. Yeah. You don't want it to have, like, any job related questions issues. So just, you know, take the relationship for the hard part that he is just by itself, and take out the job. I think it's smart, actually. I think so too, but it's already a mess with family. Oh, yeah. Yeah. So why are you gonna stir the pot and be like, oh, here, let's throw a break up in there. And then this person that has two kids with this person in there, no. Yeah. Exactly. No one has time for that. X y, she's, ex husband, so then dead. And I was, no. No. No. No. No. And then one's like, I want part of the company. We're like, wait, where'd you come from? And you're just like, oh my gosh. With the yes number two, the yes number three. No. No. No. Anyways, so I have to bring this up because again, back to my lurking. I need you to explain this phrase to Maso, and then I'll get to you elvisa or Elvis. What do you prefer? I think Elvis is better. Do you know who Elvis is? Yeah. Do you like like Elvis? Yeah. Yeah. What's your favorite song? It's not just like the the melissa rock and roll person in the boiler. I knew it. I was, like, looking at him. I was, like, this guy is actually an elvis fan. I'm doing his work. You can't see you don't know why miss Presley, you know, the efforts to keep the undies flow. I will start you off with I have a good Elvis playlist. I'll send it your way, and then you'll be fine. Then the next time someone asks you you could just still text me and be like, thanks for that. Great. But anyways, to Mazo, I didn't really need you to explain this because I didn't I'm missing something here. So I did Google that, by the way. Yeah. I mean, I knew what it meant, but Yeah. So in each initially, it was like that, any, you know, two weeks. So I was changing the artist and the type of wine. So now, right now, it's the young tag in French Accord that was, you know, sun sounding better, but it was like, you know, Tyler Decrator and Barolo. And it was, like, yeah, yeah, it was changing. It's just because growing up, we're like, you know, kind of hybrid the wine world because we alph of our production is prosecco, and we already know the world of prosecco itself that already is different from the rest of the world of wine and bellini even more. So I had to put myself, in a situation in which, you know, in some environments, even this one, for example, I have different, thoughts. I have different, mentality. Our business is different. And, at the end of all these people I know and so on. I've discovered that, me as a person, I want to be a little bit outside of the wine world. I think that one very big thing that sometimes it's, forgotten when we are talking about, all this beautiful world is that, a lot of people out there don't know anything about wine. And, you have to impress other people with your presence, with your taste, with, you can speak about, more things than just about wine. So this is, like, my fun, my funny catchphrase to say, yeah, I'm a person. I have, you know, other interests. I have, other, you know, it's not just about wine. And that this is the the the thing I want to communicate with that phrase. Oh, no. That's why I dig it is because I think that's it. And for me too, I think people get so fixated on on something like wine. They're like, oh, I have to know everything. It has to be this kind of, you know, it's not that you get nerdy about it. It's that you get kind of controlling about it. You're like, oh, I have to be I have to study all do all these things, but the most ironic part, right, is that Italian wine culture. Wine is like well, in the history of wine, it's like water. It's on the table. It's Yeah. It's, like, it's more about what's going on around the wine. And it's so funny I was reminded of this this summer because mean, I always drink wine telling summer, obviously. But I was sitting, at one of my favorite beaches and at the beach bar for lunch, and I watched this group of four guys just like crushed three bottles of wine, just like so fast. I didn't even get my second do yet. And I was Yeah. And I was just reminded though because and they didn't walk away like, you know, so they were just it's just I was like, it's like, I mean, it's water in a lot of ways, like, not to degrade it. But to your point, you know, it's Are you enjoying this podcast? Don't forget to visit our YouTube channel, mama jumbo shrimp for fascinating videos covering Stevie Kim and her travels across Italy and beyond. Meeting winemakers, eating local food, and taking in the scenery. Now, back to the show. It's about these my point is that even, you know, we're talking about personal branding here. Yeah. So, the the easiest thing I can do as a person is just to make some network, and the the more people I am able to let them associate the bottle with my face if I am a nice person, and the better it is for me. And, as for my product, I have to be attractive. To be attractive, it's not just about, you know, the terrace is not just about, how many modifications you have made, and I'm talking about my products, but I think, for all the other products as well. I mean, you have to impress people, but, it's not just about talking about wine, wine, wine, that you can do it. Because, of course, when you're talking about, with our producers or with buyers or with whatever in the wine world that makes sense. Of course, it makes sense. But at the end of the day, you have to sell a lot of bottles to people. They don't know anything about wine. So you have to you know, look a little bit about, you know, the color, the name of the, everything that it's behind at the bottom. Oh, no. Absolutely. I mean, you're not gonna wanna buy wine from someone that you despise and you find it super annoying. It's the same thing when you're eating with someone. Like, can you ever sit down and eat with someone that really bothers you? You can't. You like sit there and you're like, I need to move. Like so no. No. I totally get it. And I think, like, especially for people our age, because I'm twenty six. Mhmm. I think we're in such a interesting time in the wine world about, like, where we're going, what's happening, the kind of, like, you know, I'm sure you've seen it. The kind of, like, clickiness there has been around wine and whatnot. And then, you know, some people were moving away from wine, and you're just like, you're saying it's just not about the wine. It's about, like, the experience to hang out and, like, just being kind of a cool person and not, you know, and on that note to, like, go back to my lurking again, I was curious about the whole Lido Rose thing that I saw. So the movie director That? I mean, that's big title. No. The movie director is just for, just for Fannie because I don't want it to say, like, the inventor, the CEO, the, it's a movie director is a little bit more fun, I think. And, yeah, it's, exactly for the same thing we have said before. So, you know, twenty twenty, and that the consort is, coming out with this idea of the prossecco Rosette, that it's just the marketing you make. Okay. We get it. And, okay. I say, why should I have my, like, regular canela label the black one and put it in pink and say, okay, here we go with the rosette. I mean, do you see what everyone is doing with Rosettes, you know, about the lifestyle? It's about, anything much wine, I would say, in a way, especially if you're talking about the pros and consented. It's something that on a theory point of view, it doesn't make sense. So our idea was to, okay, let's take advantage of this thing, and, let's create something new, something different. It's a good occasion for it to create something. So it was a good idea for us to, you know, calling it, like, Lido. It's a simple name. Everyone in the board in our language, I guess, can pronounce it. Mhmm. Because I, I'm born in Proseco. So it's, I've heard a lot of connect to Lianna about to get the over the course. You know, it's simple, you know. And, all the imagery had to be fun, you know, the Dolce vita. It's something that, really, it's what people like about Italy. So we want to be a little you know, a stereotypical thing. So, we, we are having fun with that. Absolutely. No. Sorry. You made me laugh so hard because that is probably the hardest DOCage. Oh, yeah. So far so far. Even, like, because my my mother tongue is English, even when I just read it on a bottle, I have to, like, I almost can't read it. Like, I have to remember what it's like in my brain because I'm, you know, I'm like, oh, syllables. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. A g and, you know, together, I know, they're they're tricky. I know. I know. No. No. No. But, That was my pronunciation, by the way. Was Oh, of like the the the The way that American Sam's, like, the the the already. So, you know, no, that's super cool. So are you, like, the assistant director? Do you carry all the equipment, Sajita, in turn? Starting work I'm starting to work. So, oh, and since studying at the university? He's so precious. He's like, I'm still studying. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, okay. And Yeah. We're really that hard. And that's, because of the studies, I think, but I think I will be So your stage your stage is over. Oh, it's over. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. No. No. No. No. No. I'm just asking. I cut you off. No. No. Pardon budget is over. I don't know. You're growing, and are you ready for, like, a regular contract? Next year, I'm, I'm going to finish university, and we are starting working together. So we're gonna go in, in the USA in, I think, first day. Yeah. In two days. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So starting from the little things, and then, and then, yeah, growing together. Of course, it's, there was all the Stagisa thing that was fun because, I really properly, taking him from the here and there was, like, okay. Join me. I even, I asked him, no, I'm joking. So, but, yeah, he's still studying again. So it's, of course, helping me, we are, having fun. I think it's, it made sense too. I mean, we have a very good relation in between us, so it's good to, you know, make experience together. I'm a little bit more, you know, into the market since a little bit more time, but, yeah, that's, it's gonna be a nice experience for him. No. Yeah. Six years is a big difference. And, like, I mean, I'm an only child, but, as you know, Marshall, they office. She's four years younger than me. And it's like crazy. It's it's, you know, experientially. It's like, it it's beautiful, but it's also like the way you look at life and the way you're approaching different things. It's refreshing for both of you. Mhmm. But it's it's also sometimes trying because you're like, oh, I have all this experience. Okay. Let me, like, help you a little bit to be too long. Yeah. Sure. Sure. Sure. But on that, to turn on, like, a fun note. So obviously, you guys have two different perspectives on having fun You share them, though, because you're our friends. Yeah. Yeah. Yes. So now that we we we live together. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. We live together. After this, we're going to Milan on the stadium together. So it's saying, like, we're we're living together. Super. So for anyone who's listening, like, okay. Perfect question, actually. You're going to the States. So you're doing a little swap. Right? And, like, you're going to States in some gal in New York. I don't know, is giving an itinerary there. And you had to give her an itinerary to have some fun in Venice. Mhmm. What would be the, let's say, a day and a night in Venice. What to do? Yeah. Like, where do you do to have fun? No. That's that's a fun question. Yeah. He he he knows better, Ben. He knows Ben. Well, it doesn't have to be Venice. Okay. Like, you can be like, what do you guys do to have fun? Like I think that you you can't find, some I don't know, like, parties in disco. I think that there's no there's no discrimination. Probably. There's just the famous, picolomondo, but I don't know if it's still open. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I think the best way to, to visit it and to have fun, is doing Bakaratta. Okay. So it's like, how can you say that? It's like the the demo of it. Yeah. So, Bararatta. So it starts from, it's a little, man. We're we're literally right. Where do you land with the train, and you start, to go in this, in these little bars that are, called Baccaro. Mhmm. So it's typical from Venice, and you you're gonna drink a little glass of wine called it's small. So you're gonna do your umbrata in this baccaro, and, I think you're gonna, you have to Every baccaro, your fast and a little chikaty along the way. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. And so you you start from Petalaroma. And if you arrive to Kiazza, Samarco, and, you have struck your leg, I think you are the winner Yeah. In your group of friends. That's what we do. That's cool. Okay. So, k, let's alright. That was really sweet and and wonderful. But, like, what do you I've seen I saw your Zoolander get up. I know you guys hurry up. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Let's let's get real here. Okay. Okay. Okay. That was just the the final. That's just fine. Yeah. That that's it's a super party from, some friends of mine. Oh. And, it's called celebrities and celebrities in Venice, and, in, very simple, but genius because, they are like preparing an Excel file. And, before the party, you decide which celebrity you wanna make. And once you decided, they, you know, got the name for you. So you are gonna be the only, I don't know, character. So if you wanna dress up, like, I don't know. What can be? Like, one one one celebrity that you want to make in carnival, we found the pope, the more difficult questions. No. No. No. You're you're throwing them. Oh, excuse me. Okay. I'm gonna make this merger. No. No. No. No. It's okay. Would I be? I would oh, my gosh. I would I would dress up as Okay. Let's just choose a normal No. Come to me. No. I'm gonna think about this, but I wanna get more of this party. Oh, yeah. So once you decided that, you wanna dress up like, Lady Gaga. Let's say lady gaga. They can't letigaga for you. So you will be the only letigaga over there. So that's the fun part. So you will not having a double ganger. So you will be the only one, and that's the fun part about it. So we absolutely decided that we want it to be direct to lander and answer them. The problem, you see me, I'm wearing the caplets because I have like very black hairs that normally I don't have it because I have to change my hairs. And now I seem like, you know, there was some of the, you know, the old singers, in their eighties, they have like this very ugly black color on the ears. Yes. They're like the the the light and that you can see some, violet shadows, blue shadows. So that's my color right now. It's not working. Oh, that's fine. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, my god. Sorry. I need to see. Yeah. Yeah. It's like, wow. It's very black. You mean that sound like it was gonna be this, like, horrible. It's just very dark. It's very, I'm not used to it. That's so that's super fun. I mean, so that was a thing of friends just threw together. Was that like an official party? No. No. It's like a very official party. Oh, okay. Yeah. Yeah. Where you can show your outfit and then they're gonna Yeah. We we actually, we're also sponsored about this thing. So all the people were entering, handling a small bottle of the lid. Uh-huh. So us as a sneak one. He's like, I don't come unless there is. The the sneakiest, it's like. Real motive. I mean, the more we are able to put together fun, and our brand, and our characters, I think the most that we can have fun, but like in a, you know, in a operative way, you know. So that's probably the the best part right now we are, you know, the able to carry on. I feel like I just came up with a real idea for you guys and you could steal it. It mean, doesn't have to be in Venice. It could be whenever and wherever, but you should just, like, wear, like, a really, like, inconspicuous outfit and, like, with, like, some cool glasses and just, like, drop the mini bottles in people's bags. I think I'm not saying here on the podcast of what the it reminds me, but I will tell you after. Okay. Great. When I was a kid, I there was something fun with that with the supermarkets. See. Yeah. Yeah. I caught on. Well, we actually have to start wrapping up. But are there any things you'd like to add at the end to the viewers of the world who are listening? No. I mean, that's I'm very curious to see, how young people like us are going to grow into this industry because, especially in Italy, as we said before, it's, I mean, we are the coolest industry in the world. We have the coolest wines, and the coolest people and the you know, all the environments, the the wineries and everything. But the world is changing a lot, and I'm really, really curious to see how all these people will react to these changements. If, at the moment right now, are doing something that, even if it's, you know, very little without any, you know, big things, we're a little bit, I could say disruptive in a way. It's something that, we are not making it because we think it's like the cool way. We're, like, like, this. And, I think, the the the new perspective that we are having on in this world is that, the real ones win. So the better thing, we can do as people, I think it's like to, you know, be ourselves. Even if it's, you know, business, even if it's, other things that is not like your day to day life, but the more you're able in my opinion to bring yourself in what you're doing every day, the more far you can go. Excellent. Did you like it? Yes. Perfect. Great. Excellent. Kindly. Something to say. Yeah. No pressure. As I as I said before, I think that, wine word is a funny word. So You have to to have fun while you're working, and I think it's the best thing about this, this world. So, we're gonna do with, as soon as we can. Oh, yeah. Oh, you guys are doing an amazing job. Oh, thank you. Honestly, I've already marketed you guys on this podcast, but yes, go check out their Instagram, their presence. It's very enviable. Like, it's, like, in a good way. Like, it's, like, you're like, oh, I wanna do that. Yeah. But, you know, it's also I mean, I know a lot of people, they are coming from, like, families in the world of wine, but in the world, actually, of all the companies and whatever. It's not like, the, the, the richness and the cool thing and paying a lot. I mean, we're having fun with simple things at the end of the day. And so that's the, what we wanna, you know, continuing doing. Absolutely. And I finally figured out my character, by the way. That was I would be Monica Baluchi from the Matrix in the whiteout That's amazing. To end it on that because that's the kind of spice you have to bring on Valentine's. Oh, this is of course. Of course. Of course. Alright. Thank you, Thomas. Vicky. Okay. Vicky. It's okay. I actually, Vicky, but I'll let you call him. Okay. Thank you, Victoria from Italian one podcast. Thank you. As always, a big good option for hanging out with me today, remember you can catch me every Sunday on the Italian wine podcast. Available anywhere, you can get your pops.
