Today, I have with me Martina Molino. She's the owner and daughter of Mauro Molino. Located in Piamonte. So I thank you so much for coming today to talk to us about the wine and the winery. Thank you so much for having me. It's a great pleasure. Thanks a lot. Oh, it's a lot of fun. We're having a good time with our podcast marathon, meeting the producers and talking about wine. And hopefully getting you some more interest and some more export and some traction in our in the market. So let's talk about this wine. You chose Barolo DOCG two thousand and nineteen. As the wine that represents Maro Molino the most. Why did you pick this wine? Let's talk about it. So that's a very interesting question. Actually, I picked the classic Barolo twenty nineteen because perfectly represents our winery. Especially stylistically wise. Our estate is in a state located in La Mora, in the Barolo area. And La Mora is known for make very, like, elegant, very pleasant style of Barolo, and this classic Barolo is perfectly fit into this character. Love barolas from La Mora. So hundred percent nebbiolo. Correct. So when I pour it in my glass, what do I smell? What do I taste? So, when you pour it in the glass, first things that comes out are really like the floral notes, like the dry flower notes, fruits. It's very gentle and very elegant from the nose, prospect. And how are you making the wine? How long is it in wood? What size and age of of what are you using? So, actually, this wine comes exactly from three different plots within the La Mora territory. In terms of, winemaking aging, these wines see twenty months of large barrels, fifty hectoliters barrels, all use neutral oak. Perfect. I love that style. So a little bit less power of tan and a little more, as you said, more elegance. Yeah. Definitely. Sporting the acidity and a wine that still has a lovely beautiful structure and texture. So Really good. That sounds amazing. That sounds fantastic. I wanna talk about the winery itself. So how many hectares have you got in La Mora? So, actually, the winery size is about twenty hectares. Is a good size in that region. It's it's a small region with a lot of producer. Correct. Yeah. It's like a medium, small size winery. And, not all the vineyards are within the Lamora territory, but the, the majority are in the area for the production of Barolo. Was for the other varieties, such as the Nebiola, Barbara, are within the rural area. Okay. So are you making anything else besides Barbara Nebula? Are you making Arnais, for example? Yeah. Absolutely. In fact, we do. We produce a small quantity of Roy Arnese that is coming from Vetsadalba, so it's a DOCG Roy Arnese, and then we do produce a very small production of chardonnay in La More. Okay. Okay. And are you exporting any of this? So, actually, yes. I mean, the majority of the export goes from there to the red wines, but we do export also Arnais. While for the chardonnay, the production is limited. It is only reserved to the winery, basically. So to the income and the the bigger stores. You just have to go there and see. Correct. Yes. That's perfect. How many bottles a year overall? I mean, from twenty hectares How many bottles are you producing? So the total production in terms of bottle is about one hundred and sixty thousand bottles produced. So still almost an artisan production at that stage. So I wanna make sure that our listeners can find you and come and see you and visit you, are you on social media website? Tell us how to find you where you are. So, yeah. Absolutely, definitely we are on social media. The major one is Instagram. You can find us at Maro Molino winery. It's the name on Instagram. While on, the website is maramalino dot com. So you can find all the information for Cam to see us on the website or either Instagram. The winery was founded in nineteen eighty two. So you're you're there at the helm now. Who else is working with you? So, actually, yeah, the founder was my father in nineteen eighty two, and right now it's me and my brother guiding the the winery. So the second generation of winemaker, the third one of wine growers. What does the future look like? What are you hoping for in the next few years? That's a very interesting question, especially for, such as, areas, Pimonte, that is a very traditional area in which we, we feel very fortunate to be already in the newer generation. So the change of the new generation would be really the challenge for the future. In our case, I see it very bright because, Tenskela, our father was very smart to let us work together, me and my brother, And I think the future will be brilliant. So both me and my brother, we have two daughters, so maybe awful in the future that we follow our path. We're good. Well, I have four daughters. So I I love hearing about young women coming into wineries. And it's always so nice to have families working together as well as you and your brother do. So thank you very, very much for coming and joining us today. And we hope to see more people drinking Maura Molino Barolo DOCG. Thank you so much. Thank you for your time. Thanks a lot for having me.
